I have inherited an application written in VS6 (VC) and I am attempting to
upgrade it to VS2005.
...
When building, I get the following compiler errors:
Error 1 fatal error CVT1100: duplicate resource. type:MANIFEST, name:1,
language:0x0409 CVTRES Error 2 fatal error LNK1123: failure during
conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt Server
The first error is because by default VS2005 embeds its own dynamically
generated manifest. tThat one is conflicting with the one in your .rc file.
You either have to prevent VS2005 from embedding its own manifest (edit
project properties | Manifest Tool | Input and Output, and set Embed
Manifest to 'false'), or remove your own in the .rc file.
You can also specify your own manifest in the above dialog in the
'Additional Manifest Files' (rather than manually put it into the .rc file
yourself as you had to do in VS6).
