I am not that familiar with 'client-side servlets' but
can confirm that JWS is well suited to deploying
a client side GUI - especially if you already have a
server of some description (for initial deployment
content-types, and later software updates)...

Do you mean another approach than..
1. Servlets (for the stuff at the server)?
2. Java for the client-side GUI?
3. Webstart for deployment of the client-side GUI?
