The order, the keys of a HashMap are returned, is not defined,
so a map containing the replacement-rules
a->b
b->a
and the input-text "ab" can lead to the result
"aa" today and "bb" tomorrow.
Maybe that's what you meant with "Here's the WRONG way to do it",
but at the moment it's not clear how replacement-rules are defined,
i.e. if the rules have to be executed in a specific order or if
replacements have to take place until there is no fitting rule left
(which would lead to an endless loop with the above example).
Maybe you explain the whole thing in more detail.
