I hope I posting to the correct group. I am not an expert in Java or
any programming language. I am just requesting some tech support. I
don't know anymore about computer programming that the average American
person today in his/her early 20s.
[some applet doesn't work]
I use Mozilla Suite
1.8b on both PCs. I am not much of an IE or Firefox fan. I also prefer
WIN98SE over all other OSes.
As Andrew mentioned, your best bet is to contact the author of the
failing applet program. But if they decide to ignore you, here's what you
might be able to do:
Look in your webbrowser for an option to display the "Java console".
Note that "Java" and "JavaScript" are two unrelated concepts, and you want
to find the "Java console", and not the "JavaScript console". Once you've
found out how to display it (I don't know how to do it in Mozilla, but I
know such an option is available in both IE and Firefox), go to the site and
try to load the applet again. The console should display some error message.
Posting the error message here will help diagnose what the exact problem is.
Alternatively, if the main goal is to just play old NES games, you can
download a NES emulator and run it locally. The only problem is you'd then
have to find the relevant ROMs, and I not being a lawyer, I can't comment on
the legality of doing so. See
